Having trouble displaying a pdf file using Floatbox.
Keek getting the error message within the Floatbox saying: "Adobe Reader is required to view this content. Get Adobe Reader."
What steps do I need to do to enable this on my site?

Browsers require the Adobe Reader plugin to be installed in order to show pdf files. This is the same as requiring the flash plugin to display flash content or the quicktime plugin to show quicktime content.

When a site visitor attempts to view the pdf file but does not have the necessary plugin installed, floatbox displays that informational message. The "Get Adobe Reader" part of that message is a link to the download page for the plugin.

I am having trouble displaying a PDF at all. It this a similar issue - I receive no error messages. The floatbox opens to the right proportions and then the entire page reloads and everything is cancelled.

I thought it might have been my coding but the same is true for the PDF on the demo page on this site. it works on windows but not on the mac

This sounds more like the pdf plugin crashing on your machine rather than something going wrong with floatbox, but I can't know for sure. It's probably worthwhile to reinstall the plugin and see if it settles down. http://get.adobe.com/reader/

It will be a few days before I get close to a Mac. It would interesting to hear from other mac users if they are having problems with the pdf sample on the demo page too.

I will try on another two macs when I get home tonight for you then, see how they go.

I can't be certain that it is not my pdf plugin crashing when it is combined with floatbox - but I know that linking PDF files separately without floatbox works as expected (loading in to the browser).
I don't know if that is helpful.
If there's any other information you need let me know.

So it worked on my macs at home.
Something to do with my pdf-plugin combining with floatbox.

That makes this a lot less problematic for me if its only my computer and not all macs.
Problem solved I guess
